About the opportunity
Bowral Hospital, located in the picturesque Southern Highlands is seeking a self-directed, driven and passionate Allied Health Assistant to join their dedicated team.
Your communication skills will be the foundation for this role. We are looking for someone who is personable and can easily interact with a highly diverse patient base. The role involves a large degree of autonomy so you will be a confident and decisive person who understands the intricacies of the role. The role will involve the use of CBORD and will require a sound understanding of food service practices.
Working within a highly skilled Multidisciplinary team, this role offers an incredible learning opportunity and is an evolving role which has a high potential for growth and development. Working in a small, rural hospital provides a diverse experience which cannot be offered in larger metro facilities. This role offers you the opportunity to be a part of independent and departmental QI activities and the management team are highly supportive of upskilling the team.
The Dietitians Assistant role will require the preferred applicant to work two full days on the weekend a one full weekday shift - 8:30am – 5:00pm

What you'll be doing
This position is part of the Bowral Hospital's Nutrition & Dietetics Department. The Dietitian Assistant assists in maintaining a high standard of nutritional care for all inpatients by obtaining and managing daily menu choices, interviewing patients for their food preference, supporting the Dietitians in monitoring of oral intake and liaising with Food Services on the day to day provision of meals to patients.

Bowral & District Hospital (B&DH) is a major Rural Hospital which provides a wide range of services, including general medical, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric, surgical, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, geriatric and emergency services.
Originally founded in 1889, Bowral & District Hospital has been serving the needs of its local population for over a hundred years. From a humble cottage hospital origin, the hospital has grown to a 94-bed facility offering a range of general and specialised services.
Part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, Bowral has close links with a range of Sydney's teaching and referring hospitals including Liverpool, Fairfield, Bankstown and Campbelltown hospitals.
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition &Dietetics) or Certificate III AHA (Nutrition &Dietetics) or equivalent qualification or minimum 12 months full-time equivalent relevant experience working as a Dietitian Assistant in a hospital with a commitment to commence Certificate IV within 12 months.

  • Good current knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and customer relations skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the quality improvement process.
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Good computer skills including experience using CBORD windows system.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in malnutrition screening.
  • Experience using tablets for menu selections
