We are seeking a Counsellor to provide Counselling services to eligible clients of the Community Allied Health (CAH) service of West Gippsland Healthcare Group in accordance with commonwealth and state guidelines. The position will involve providing supportive and therapeutic counselling to assist clients to resolve problems in a positive way, and support clients through counselling interventions to develop strategies to manage change, increase self-awareness and enhance their emotional wellbeing to support independent living. The position may include loss and grief counselling, supportive counselling to carers, counselling for trauma, depression or other emotional and psychological conditions which can include living with a chronic illness, and provision of other practical supports if required.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Degree in Psychology or Social Work
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) if relevant, or eligible for membership of the AASW.
- Minimum 3 years supervised practice in therapeutic counselling interventions in the areas of change management, loss and grief, trauma, depression or other emotional and psychological conditions.
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
The following experience/qualifications would be also considered advantageous:
- Post Graduate qualifications in counselling
- Previous experience in aged and disability care and/or providing services in a home and center-based environment
IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
