We work with clients of all ages, with a focus on supporting people with a disability, chronic health condition or weight concern. We have two primary clinic locations in St Morris and St Marys, but work across metropolitan Adelaide providing home visits, and also support regional and rural clients via telehealth. Position Overview
The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) is responsible for supporting the provision of high-quality nutrition care to Pod Dietetics clients. The position involves a range of tasks which may include inventory management of nutrition consumables (oral nutrition supplements, enteral feeds + equipment); maintenance and support for the development of dietetics education materials (pictorial meal plans, staff training presentations, individualised resources); administrative duties to streamline dietetic care; analysis of nutritional data and assistance in the provision of group sessions/activities. This will be provided onsite, via home visits and/or via telehealth (phone or video). It will include working directly with individuals (and potentially their parent, caregiver or support worker team), independently with self driven tasks and will also include working collaboratively with other stakeholders including dietitians and other Allied Health professionals.
This role is new within the business and will require a high level of flexibility and adaptability to ensure the AHA is best able to support the dietitians at Pod Dietetics and have a rewarding career. Supervision will be provided 4 – 6 weekly, dependent on the incumbent’s level of experience and expertise. This may be more frequent initially and lessen as time progresses. Additional tasks that may be involved in this role include supporting the creation of content for social media, networking or building relationships with other health professionals and contributing to general team projects as they arise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with dietitians and clients to support the provision of safe, evidence based and efficient care.
- Provision of above-mentioned care in multiple settings which include clinic, home, community or via telehealth (phone or video)
- Effective verbal and written communication within dietetic team and wider stakeholders if required
- Monitor, maintain and order relevant nutritional supplies that support and adhere to nutritional care plans stipulated by Dietitian.
- Provide operational service support and undertake relevant administrative duties for individual clients (e.g. resource development and preparation, analysis of nutritional data, preparation of reports and client information)
- Build positive relationships, internal and external to Pod Dietetics to maintain collaborative person-centered care
- Undertake regular reflective practice and professional development, as well as contributing to a culture of feedback and continuous improvement both for staff and clients
- Provide clear and relevant feedback and documentation to dietitians following client contact.
- Perform other related duties as required by the dietitian.
Essential Minimum Requirements
Educational/Vocational Qualifications
- Allied Health Assistant Certificate 3 or 4 or equivalent classification (AHP Bachelor or Masters current study years 3, 4 or graduated accepted)
- Clear aptitude for working in a community healthcare setting and with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds
