Little People Therapies is a paediatric Allied Health clinic offering specialist services to children aged 0-9 years with a disability or developmental delay. Our central clinic is based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, and we have two small and emerging hubs located in the Gold Coast and Albany, Western Australia. We have an exciting opportunity for an Allied Health Assistant to join our Cairns team in either a part-time or casual capacity. With our team of skilled and experienced therapists, we aim to help children reach their full potential by engaging them in fun and interactive therapy sessions. The goal is to help children develop their physical, emotional and cognitive abilities through activities that are tailored to meet their individual needs and interests. Our team consists of 16 dedicated and highly motivated professionals who are passionate about what they do. We're seeking an enthusiastic paediatric Allied Health Assistant to join our friendly, supportive, multidisciplinary team. Allied health university student applications welcomed.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Provide play-based therapeutic services under the guidance of the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in developing therapy plans for children and their families
- Assist the Occupational Therapist to compile and produce clinical assessments and reports
- Work collaboratively with other Allied Health professionals and therapy assistants
- Assist the broader Allied Health team in facilitating OT, dietetics and school readiness group programs
- Maintain up-to-date outcomes data for all clients in line with Little People Therapies policies and procedures
- Assist the Allied Health team with creating customised client resources
- Attend and participate in case collaborations and stakeholder meetings
- Maintain and develop your professional skills through supervision and professional development
Qualifications & experience
- Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent) OR current enrolment in relevant tertiary studies
- A Blue Card OR the ability to acquire one
- Queensland driver’s license and own transport
- Experience working with children
- Experience working with neurodiverse children is highly desirable
- An ability to problem solve and work autonomously
- A strong family-centered approach
- Excellent communication skills
- An ability to follow direction and apply clinical interventions under the guidance and supervision of a qualified OT
