PRIMARY PURPOSE
The purpose of the Allied Health Assistant is to help clients and their families reach their individual communication goals by supporting therapy under the supervision and direction of a speech pathologist. The Allied Health Assistant is passionate about helping children and their families to achieve success at home and at school. They build their clients’ confidence while engaging them in fun, interactive therapy that helps them to develop social skills, be understood by others and to share their needs, wants and dreams.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESThe Allied Health Assistant is responsible for:
Supporting clients and their families to implement therapy strategies into their everyday lives through delivering community-based therapy, under the direction of a speech pathologist.
Learning from an experienced speech pathologist and clinical educator through joint sessions, active participation in supervision, note-taking and development of therapy resources.
Working closely with key stakeholders and ensuring that communication facilitates quality service delivery.
- Working towards a tertiary qualification in an Allied Health field, preferably Speech Pathology.
- A passion for working with children and families and maximising their participation at home and school.
- Ability to work under supervision, taking direction and feedback to ensure that services are effective and to guide professional development.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Own car and current driver’s license.
