Job description

RELATIONAL MINDS ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL

Have you ever been interested in working with parents to help them with their kids who are in need?
Are you looking for a flexible, well paid and well supported environment that values you and your professional development?

Welcome to Relational Minds, a private Mental Health Clinic. We provide Parent Support for families with children suffering from mental illness.  Our mission is to build a more hopeful world for children by empowering their carers.  We believe that individual therapy alone for children and adolescents may not be enough to help their recovery.  Parents and Carers are the secret weapon to help their kids develop emotionally, they just need education and support.  We achieve this using the principles of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy.  The same principles embedded in the whole organisation as our model of treating each other and self care.  Our team is comprised of clinicians from multiple disciplines (medical, nursing, and Allied Health).

We are based in Sunbury and Mildura and provide Telehealth service to many parts of Regional Australia (we are committed to helping the most vulnerable and in need).  We are a team that is committed to diversity and inclusivity, we encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, all members of the LGBTQI community and people with disabilities.

Role Purpose and Philosophy:

The role is suited to an Allied Health Professional who has a passion for helping children grow emotionally.  We welcome applicants with backgrounds in Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology.

The role involves the assessment of young people and delivery of family education, as well as provision of supportive counselling to parents. You will utilise a relational approach that is supported by other members of the Relational Minds team including our Psychiatry Team.

  • You will learn and utilise our Parenting Support Program that aims to empower parents to understand the challenges of parenting their young person, learn therapeutic parenting skills and improve their self care.

Our offering

  • You will be trained in:
    • Developing a holistic and integrated formulation of a young person’s presentation and management plan, based on neurobiology and attachment theory principles.
    • The basic skills required to relate to and support families using the basic principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy
    • The necessary skills to deliver the Foundations for Attachment Program individually and in groups.
  • You can obtain support via regular team intake and clinical review meetings, training, clinical supervision and reflective practice supervision.
  • Our admin staff will look after your day to day needs.
  • We will provide opportunities for education and professional development in the relational and holistic treatment of mental health disorders in children, adolescents and youth.
