The role involves office-based triage calls from a variety of consumers, carers, and professionals to determine which clients will be seen by Statewide Mental Health Services and then refer them to the most appropriate service for the client's needs. It is expected to support an integrated approach between all services to improve service delivery to people accessing our services and is well supported by an onsite manager and administrative staff.
Early shifts commence at 8 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m.; late shifts commence at 2 p.m. and finish at 10 p.m
As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality Mental Health Services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Allied Health Professional - Mental Health Service Helpline will:
- Undertake Mental Health triage assessment over the phone and refers individuals to appropriate Mental Health Services Statewide or to other appropriate service providers.
- Provide Mental Health information to callers of the Helpline, including consumers, carers and Health Professionals seeking advice and information, including details of alternative treatment and support services.
- Document referrals appropriately using electronic patient information systems and maintain a high level of customer service including timely response to incoming call.
- Work collaboratively with community Mental Health Services and other service providers to ensure effective service provision to individuals.

Fixed term, part time shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 28 February 2025.

- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: * Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
- Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Worker; or
- Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: * Relevant tertiary qualification with a minimum of two years post - graduate employment in acute Mental Health care and community practice.
