Almond Farm Hand

We are looking for two enthusiastic, energetic, and hardworking people to join our team. We have a 450 acre almond orchard near the River Murray at Walker Flat. We have a requirement for a general farmhand, and a farmhand with a focus on irrigation.

About the roles - 

·         Monitoring and maintaining our drip irrigation system, including pump operation, scheduling waterings, cleaning and flushing irrigation lines, pressure checking, and repairs as needed. The irrigation system is computerised, so an understanding of computers and willingness to use them is required.

·         Fulltime work, in all weather conditions, including daytime temperatures up to 38C.

·         Some night time and weekend work will be required.

·        Seasonal machinery operation, including tractor driven spray units, slashing, and harvest machinery operation.

·         Pruning – both mechanical (chainsaw) and manual (handsaw)

·        Telehandler & forklift operation

·         General maintenance of machinery

·         Maintaining farm records

·         General farmhand duties

About the candidates

·         Reliable and punctual

·         Drivers licence and own reliable transport

·         Previous experience preferred but not essential

·         Good communication skills

·         Have a good level of physical fitness

·         Ability to work in a team environment, and independently

·         Ability to work in a safe manner and adherence to WHS policies, with a focus on safety to self and others

·         Ability to use initiative and critical thinking

·         Willingness to attend training, and upskill as required
