This fulltime position is located on a family-owned farm at Northampton, near Geraldton, in the northern cropping region of Western Australia. The farm produces crops, and runs a merino herd.
As Mixed Farm Hand, your duties include operating a variety of large modern GPS cropping machinery to meet the needs of the season, routine sheep work, basic mechanical and water maintenance, basic workshop, general farm duties and occasional truck driving. A driver’s licence and your own vehicle, a manual HR truck licence and digital record keeping skills are essential, and previous experience air seeding, operating a header or a self-propelled spray rig, and a Chemcert are preferred.
Ag workers with a positive attitude, a high level of self-motivation, a willingness to adopt new practices and the ability to work unsupervised who have experience in a similar position are encouraged to apply. However, if you have a manual HR truck licence, previous large scale broad acre cropping experience and some sheep experience, the farmer will teach you the skills you need to succeed.
The position comes with a tidy 2-bedroom house including power at Horrocks Beach, just a short commute to work on the farm, with accommodation on farm becoming available in three months’ time. Or you can live in Northampton or half an hour up the road in Geraldton. A school bus runs from Horrocks Beach to Northampton for PP-10 and a separate bus goes from Northampton to Geraldton for WACE senior studies. When living on farm the PP - 10 school bus stops at the gate. Small pets are welcome but you will need to bring your own kennel. All your shopping, healthcare and recreational needs are catered for in Northampton or Geraldton. Please note the successful applicant will be required to provide a police check.
