As the Analytical Chemist you will be responsible for the chemical and electrical analyses of insulating media from a variety of electrical plant and associated equipment.
Help us in leading the way and provide technical assistance and training to other team members including instrumental maintenance, enhancing existing methodologies, and ensuring adherence with Australian and internationally recognised standards designed to meet all OHS&E and quality requirements.
This role is based in Yarraville, Victoria and is part of the Technical Services, Network Operations Team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Provide accurate and timely data and reports for analysis.
- Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with the relevant quality, workplace safety and test standards, including the application of all relevant SDS’s.
- Exercise individual judgement and initiative in the application of scientific principles, techniques, and methods.
- Train / Mentor / Coach in the development of others.
- Ensure the maintenance of all quality accreditations (NATA, ISO etc).
- Support the development of new test methodologies.
- Identify non-conformances within the Laboratory Management System.
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Bachelor’s degree in applied science (Chemistry) or equivalent, or extensive demonstrated industry experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, working in a team environment.
- Strong safety focus.
- Ability to plan and prioritise work tasks to ensure completion of tests within required timelines.
- Knowledge of the relevant standards (including OH&S) and appropriate test methods.
- Extensive knowledge of analytical techniques and instrument operation.
- Working knowledge of scientific instrument maintenance (GC, HPLC preferred).
- Demonstrated history of working in a routine scientific laboratory.
