With officers located across the state, Biosecurity Queensland works to mitigate the risks and impacts of animal and plant pests and diseases and weeds to the economy, the environment, social amenity and human health.
Within Biosecurity Queensland, our staff work together through four operational programs and two supporting programs to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and agricultural chemical use and lead the overall DAF response to biosecurity emergency incidents.
About the Role
Working within Biosecurity Queensland, you will play an integral role in developing and implementing engagement, communication and partnership strategies that support the community, industry and government to eradicate, manage, and control invasive pests and diseases.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of stakeholder engagement strategies, including contributing to campaign collateral, reporting and organising annual scheduling to achieve strategic objectives.
- Plan and undertake activities supporting implementation of the relevant community and stakeholder engagement strategy, including coordinating assigned project activities through independent completion of own tasks and supervision and oversight of project resources/team.
- Build, maintain and improve relationships and networks both internally and externally to enable implementation o engagement stategies and effective events that engage the target audience. This may include managing potential conflicts through clear communication.
- Build and maintain knowledge of stakeholder interests and social responses to biosecurity concerns.
- Apply engagement techniques to communicate effectively with the target audience using audience analytics to support stakeholder mapping.
- Support preliminary research, analysis and investigation applicable to the use of new technologies and practices to improve the completion of project deliverables. Report findings to management to inform ongoing engagement strategies.
- Establish and promote events on behalf of the organisation in conjunction with key projects and business needs.
- Create written materials for organisational announcements and key milestones.
- Develop material for external publication and release in line with corporate standards and progress these thorugh to publication / release on relevant platforms.

- Tertiary qualifications in communication, engagement or other relevant experience are highly desirable.
