About the role

We're looking for a proactive, empathetic individual who is dedicated to helping others. As our AOD Support Worker, you'll play a critical role in ensuring high-quality service delivery is practiced and maintained. You'll work closely with our team to implement the objectives and requirements of our Service Agreement, and provide compassionate support to individuals seeking assistance.

The Sobering Up Unit is our 30-bed facility that provides monitoring, shelter, support, referrals and advocacy for persons who are assessed as requiring a safe place to sober up or recover from the immediate effects of alcohol and drug use. The unit also caters for people apprehended under the Public Intoxication Act (PIA) in South Australia.

Key responsibilities

  • Understand issues faced by and be able to work respectfully with all clients including those who are ATSI, CALD and LGBTIQ as well as work professionally with team members, clients and other agencies
  • Monitor clients utilising the service according to current practice policy and procedures
  • Be cognisant of new policies and procedures and how they may manifest themselves in service delivery
  • Accurately collet client and service delivery data on SAMIS
  • Accurately keep client records and ensure they are maintained in line with current policy and procedures an well as file and record case notes up to date
  • Collaborate with team members in completing rostered tasks and caring for clients
This is a casual role located in Adelaide, SA. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS SA Level 3 Award.

You will have

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services AOD or equivalent
  • A working knowledge of accommodation and support options relevant to clients with complex support needs and substance use issues
  • A commitment to working with homeless people and an understanding of their needs
  • Have a sound understanding of the risks, and able to work with clients with a high complexity of need and respond to individual changing needs
  • Working with Working with Children Check
  • Hold a current SA Drivers License (highly desirable)
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police check
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate
