About the role
SKF has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Application Engineer to join the team located at SKF’s office in Perth, Western Australia.
Working closely with the Sales, Engineering & Services Delivery teams, you will contribute to the profitable growth of the total SKF business, through engineering consultancy, technical support and specialised mechanical services projects for OEMs and end users in the industrial sector.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Project Management & delivery in relation to refurbishment, upgrade, re-engineering and installation of heavy rotating equipment involving rotating equipment.
- Delivering and quantifying value to Key Accounts by developing, implementing and communicating Knowledge-based solutions and services.
- Developing strategic business opportunities for the full SKF product & service portfolio at nominated Key Accounts.
- Mentoring, supporting and developing colleagues in Application Engineering, sales and services in relevant applications and projects.
- Developing and conducting on-site product related training for key customers.
About You
To be considered for this role you will have:
- A Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or a qualified mechanical fitter with equivalent level of technical expertise, including a formal qualification).
- A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Bearing application knowledge, preferably in the mining and minerals processing as well as manufacturing industries.
- A demonstrated understanding of reliability, maintenance and design issues related to rotating machinery.
- Exposure to Power Transmission products & systems, Industrial Seals and Lubrication Systems.
- IT literacy; proficiency with computer software packages (Microsoft 0365 Suite & typical Engineering applications, such as basic CAD).
- The ability to effectively engage, communicate and present to customers of all levels ranging from the workshop floor to management.
- Demonstrated business acumen and commercial aptitude.
- Inquisitiveness, self-motivation, a drive to succeed, a “can-do” approach, and the ability to make sound technical decisions and deliver under pressure.
- A desire to have mixed working environment comprising of site based “hands on” tasks as well as office responsibilities and reporting.
- Be able to present informal and formal training as required.
- Willingness and availability to travel extensively within Australia, including remote areas and at short notice.
- A valid driver’s license.
