Job description

Emanate Technology is collaborating with a distinguished Federal Government client in search of an Applications Support Engineer for the Department's Services Section in the Business Solutions Branch.
 
We are seeking an experienced Applications Support Engineer to play a pivotal role in providing technical support and ensuring the efficient delivery of applications used by the department.
 
You will be an essential member of a small, multi-skilled team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the IT functionality of the department, both in the project space and day-to-day operations.
 
Role Requirements:

  • Provide systems administration, monitoring, and level 2 and level 3 technical support.
  • Conduct system monitoring and reporting, emphasising ongoing process improvements for enhanced operational availability and reliability.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues, offering necessary assistance to stakeholders.
  • Escalate problems and incidents with vendors, ensuring comprehensive documentation in relevant reporting systems.
  • Act as a technical resource for assigned projects and BAU activities, delivering technical solutions and outcomes, including support for testing activities.
  • Install and deploy software updates, patches, and fixes following established procedures and processes, including change management.
  • Create and maintain system and operational documentation, including the development and upkeep of Knowledge-Based Articles for reference by level 1 support officers.
  • Adhere to established safety, security, and quality standards.
 
Essential:
  • Proficient in application troubleshooting, diagnosing, testing, and resolving customer issues.
  • Skilled in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) and task automation.
  • Intermediate Transact SQL (T-SQL) proficiency and extensive experience with SQL database products.
  • Familiarity with software development teams and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional team environment.
  • Knowledgeable in ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, adept at resolving complex technical issues.
  • Efficiently manages multiple concurrent activities, understanding and prioritising dependencies and risks.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with strong interpersonal abilities.
