Application Support Engineer

Role Purpose:

• An Application Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for one or more software applications. This includes troubleshooting and resolving issues, as well as working with developers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that applications are functioning correctly.

The Support Engineer will be expected to have a strong background in software development, as well as experience working in a customer-facing support role. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also essential. Familiarity with the applications being supported is also important.
This role requires a great deal of technical expertise, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. They should have knowledge of the software development life cycle, software troubleshooting and debugging, DevOps concepts, and ITIL processes.
Key Responsibilities:
The Support Engineer will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of applications, identifying, and resolving any problems, and providing ongoing maintenance and support. Other responsibilities may include:

• Collaborating with developers and vendors to identify and resolve bugs.
• Write clean, testable code using .NET programming languages.
• Providing on-call support for critical issues outside of regular business hours.
• Identifying and escalating issues to the appropriate teams.
• Providing training and support to customers and other teams.
• Keeping up to date with new features and releases of applications.
• Gathering and analysing customer feedback to improve the overall user experience.
• Creating and maintaining documentation for applications.

• Collaborating with business stakeholders and other teams such as development, operations, and security to ensure solutions align with the overall IT strategy and meet business needs.

Key Skills:

• Strong technical background in software development.
• Experience working in a customer-facing support role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Strong experience with Microsoft .NET application development (C#, JavaScript).
• Basic understanding of the Windows Server OS (services, scheduling, PowerShell))
• Basic understanding of networking (OSI layers)
• Familiarity with security and data privacy standards.
• Experience with monitoring and performance analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with incident management and resolution.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle, DevOps concepts, and ITIL processes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Well-rounded solution documentation skills.
• Ability to learn and on-board Azure PaaS and SaaS.

Clearances:

• Must be Australian Citizen
• Baseline, NV1 or NV2
