Apprentice Welder

Expressions of Interest for an APPRENTICE WELDER required to join the AUSPAN Canning Vale and Gnowangerup team.

About The Role:

The Apprentice Welder is responsible for setting up a work site and cleaning up the site. Along with working manually and semiautomatic with welding and cutting tools. At times you may be asked to work with protective coatings and apply them to welded parts.

The Main Responsibilities Would Include:

• Safely utilise power tools and machinery when needed.
• Follow instructions from supervisor/team leader to perform manual tasks.
• Clean up worksite from hazardous or obsolete material.
• Report any issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
• Undertake all required Safe Operating Procedures.
• Setup and/or operate hand and machine tools and welding equipment.
• Assemble parts and structures by lining up and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting.
• Examine production drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements.
• Cut, roll, shape, bend, mould, spin, heat or hammer metal products to fabricate parts or sub-assemblies.
• Works in conjunction with other crews and lead persons.
• Maintains responsibility for all tools and equipment assigned to the group.
• Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety.
• Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-worker.

About You – Skills and Experience

• Undertake all required studies to successfully complete Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Apprenticeship.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop relationships and building rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• High level attention to detail.
• Proficiency in time management and prioritisation of tasks

AUSPAN Group is a WA family-owned D&C building company, with a successful track record of delivering buildings for industrial, commercial, mining & agricultural clients. This position will be based in our Canning Vale office and Gnowangerup. We also have offices in Albany, Toodyay and Geraldton.

The Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to pass a functional pre-employ medical including drug and alcohol screen.
• Hold a current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence.
• Provide a National Police Clearance obtained within the last 6 months.
• Be health, safety and environmentally conscious.
• Display a collaborative teamwork style with well-honed conflict resolution skills.
• The ability to make practical decisions under pressure.
