Maxima’s Indigenous Employment Team is looking for an ApprenticeshipConsultant to case manage the recruitment and mentoring of its Hosted Apprentices & Trainees.

The Role:
Working closely with First Nations Trainees/Apprentices, primarily youth and their communities, Maxima is seeking candidates who have in depth of knowledge and understanding to support diverse cultural dynamics, and pathways to education and employment outcomes. Candidates who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander are strongly encouraged to apply.
The role is based in Melbourne/Naarm and will require travel across Victoria to support Trainees.
You will join an existing team of professionals supporting opportunities for young First Nations people through traineeships and apprenticeships with our corporate partners. The Maxima Group employs over 600 apprentices and trainees nationally with approximately 40% identifying as being of First Nations descent.
Some of the things you will do:
- Promoting Maxima to either potential Australian Apprentices or potential Host Employers
- Develop links with schools to promote First Nations employment opportunities
- Develop links with Government and non-Government Agencies, stakeholders and First Nations community networks to promote employment opportunities
- Undertake recruitment, interview and selection procedures
- Support and Negotiate with Trainees/Apprentices, Host Employers, Training Providers, Maxima’s Australian Apprenticeship Centre and Traineeship and Apprenticeship Services
- Undertake monitoring visits on both a pre-arranged basis as well as on an as needs basis
- Identify growth, development and support with work performance, training, pay enquiries, and any other areas identified by the Host employer or the Apprentice
- Support and mentor Trainees/Apprentices and take appropriate action to resolve work related issues, any areas that are problematic and refer appropriately for non-work related issues
- Maintain up to date information and knowledge of training packages and government funding
What is required?
- Experience in recruitment, mentoring or coaching
- A strong understanding of First Nations culture and empathy for young adults
- A high level of oral and written skills with the ability to work to procedures
- To be well organised and able to operate in a time focused manner
- Have the self discipline to work autonomously and show a high level of initiative
- To be professionally presented as you will be dealing directly with our Corporate Clients
- A knowledge of Group Training and the vocational education and employment sector would be an advantage
- Ability to use Microsoft Office tools
- To be prepared to obtain a National Police Clearance.
- To be prepared to obtain a Working With Children Check
- Current driving licence and a serviceable vehicle. A fuel card and generous vehicle allowance will be provided as part of your employment package.
