Work Location: Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

The Port & State Approvals team is highly engaged within the business and externally, developing and implementing communication and stakeholder relationship strategies that deepen relationships and create the foundations for development, operational efficiency and growth.

Reporting to the Principal Port, Rail & State Agreements, you will support the business through:

  • Managing Fortescue's State Agreements and Port Agreements
  • Preparing and coordinating proposals, approvals and reports
  • Building and maintaining strategic external and internal stakeholder relationships

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting and coordinating proposals, approvals and reports required to deliver critical studies, project and operational approvals on schedule and in accordance with Fortescue's two State Agreement Acts and Port Agreements by:
  • Building and maintaining relationships across the business to ensure that proposals, approvals and reports are developed to meet business requirements while ensuring that the business understands the opportunities, obligations and limitations created by the State Agreement Acts and Port Agreements;
  • Coordinating the timely preparation of approvals and reports prepared by Functional Approval teams in the business;
  • Liaising with lead agencies responsible for administering the State Agreement Acts and Port Agreements to ensure that Fortescue's business drivers, schedules and priorities are understood and supported;
  • Maintaining a schedule of current proposals, approvals and reports to ensure timing is known and understood across the business.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills including a demonstrated ability to work effectively across operational and project teams
  • Experience in dealing with government departments and officials;
  • Excellent drafting skills including the ability to draft in accordance with statutory and contractual obligations and to quickly understand technical information from a range of mining and maritime disciplines;
  • Excellent time management skills including a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities under limited supervision;
  • Experience in interpreting statute law and navigating statute-based approvals regimes; and,
  • Business acumen and a strong understanding of the resources sector.
  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, business or law disciplines will be highly regarded.
