The Role
This is an excellent opportunity to influence industry and business development as an Analyst in Defence. In this exciting role you will build strong relationships with international and industry partners and will contribute to the expansion of a domestic industrial base whilst contributing to the development of innovative technologies in relation to Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance.
Use your excellent research, negotiation and presentation skills to determine requirements, review options and develop metrics to present for decision at a range of Committees, Program Boards and associated fora.
It’s an exciting environment where no two days are the same, but on a typical day as an APS 6 Capability Analyst you will:
- Prepare timely and high quality advice for ministers and cabinet relating to capability development within Defence.
- Apply expertise in capability development processes to progress innovative capability development initiatives within Defence.
- Evaluate and provide advice on capability proposals including assessments of the strategic context, capability options, resource implications, risks and acquisition strategies.
- Design and recommend solutions to issues impacting the achievement of desired outcomes.
About our Team
The Capability Analyst positions are located within the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Enterprise Task Force, within the Joint Capabilities Group (JCG).
The Australian Government is committed to the acceleration of the manufacturing of guided weapons in Australia.
Working in the GWEO Taskforce is fast paced, exciting and directly supports Defence’s mission to defend Australia and its National Interests.
The multi-billion dollar GWEO program is a complex undertaking requiring consideration of many elements including research and development; test and evaluation; manufacturing; maintenance, repair, and overhaul; storage and distribution; disposal; and education and training. You will work in a diverse team of ADF, APS and Industry partners, analysing, designing and implementing innovative solutions to deliver Government's Guided Weapons production priority.

There are multiple roles on offer in Canberra and one in Melbourne, Victoria.
