6 - Month Contract for an APS3 Legal Support Officer in the Brisbane CBD
Your new company:Hays has partnered with an independent prosecution service established by Parliament to prosecute alleged offences against Commonwealth law.
Your new role:
As an APS3 Legal Support Officer, you will be required to provide general administrative support services for legal practice, including case administration, preparation, and witness coordination. Working under supervision, you will liaise with staff and utilise administrative, legal, and digital tools to analyse and manage cases, draft workplace documents, and assist with task allocation and broader workgroup objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage case files, including creation, administration, and archiving.
- Performing tasks such as photocopying, filing, data entry, and meeting administration.
- Draft summons/subpoenas and coordinate with witnesses.
- Arrange travel and provide updates as needed.
- Prepare case materials and lodge/filing documentation.
- Conduct basic research activities and arrange interpreters and translators.
- Facilitate video conferencing.
- Collaborate with Federal Prosecutors, external agencies, courts, and counsel.
- Adapt communication (both verbal and written) to suit the audience.
- Recognise and escalate issues to senior staff members.
- Engage in ongoing learning and development as required.
- Candidates MUST BE Australian Citizens.
- Strong focus on delivery in a professional service environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to respond flexibly and positively to work changes and shifting priorities.
- Good time management skills.
- Good collaboration skills - within a team and internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound application of judgement, initiative and drive.
- Sound communication skills.
- A 6-month initial contract within a large Federal Government Department in Brisbane CBD and a competitive daily rate
