We are looking for high performing candidates to join the Standalone Legislation and Visual Arts and Design sections as APS Level 5 Contract and Project officers. There are a number of ongoing and non-ongoing positions available to fill.
The Standalone Legislation section has responsibility for the Office for the Arts landmark action to introduce standalone legislation to protect First Nations Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions. The department's work on the legislation will be guided by a First Nations Working Group membered by First Nations experts.
The Visual Arts and Design Section provides support and advice to the government on visual arts and design policy, including Indigenous visual arts policy, the delivery of the Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support (IVAIS) Program and the administration of the Resale Royalty Scheme.
As an APS Level 5 officer you will be required to perform a range of duties in accordance with the APS Values and Code of Conduct, including:
- Manage relationships with grant recipients and ensure proper grant administration processes are undertaken;
- Project and program management including stakeholder liaison, finance, progress monitoring and reviewing milestone reporting.
- Engaging and communicating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders on operational, policy and program issues, including sensitive issues;
- Prepare policy papers, draft reports, Ministerial correspondence, and coordination requests and other Minister briefing under limited guidance;
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders; and
- Provide administrative and secretariat support to the section and inter-agency and First Nations committees working on the standalone legislation.
Our ideal candidates will have demonstrated program management skills, including grants or contract management or relevant similar transferable skills. They will take responsibility for the achievement of outcomes, assist other team members to progress work and follow through to delivery, and manage competing priorities and strategic directions related to the outputs of the team.

Experience with the SmartyGrants grant administration system would be an advantage.
Knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated experience in First Nations engagement and Project management.
