Our participants, Our people, Our purpose

Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability.

For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

We are looking for highly motivated professionals with ICT Service Desk experience to join the NDIA’s Office of Agency Accessibility and Inclusion (OAAI) as APS6 Accessible Tech Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your professional experience and make a real impact in the lives of people with disability.

The OAAI supports the Agency to increase levels of inclusion, employment, and engagement for diversity groups, such as People with Disability, First Nations Peoples, Gender Equality and Families, People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Asexual plus people (LGBTIQA+), and the Mature-Age and Inter-Generational Workforce.

The branch works alongside employees with disability and line managers to ensure required workplace adjustments are in place to enable people to participate and contribute their best to the Agency. They also ensure workplace accessibility by leveraging technology, leading the Agency's Accessible Systems Strategy as well as providing assistive technology tools and user support for all staff.

Where you can add value
The APS6 Accessible Tech Lead is responsible for working collaboratively with relevant business areas and key stakeholders across the Chief Operating Officer Group to implement ICT related reasonable adjustments for current and prospective employees. • Providing ICT advice, support, and basic orientation in using NDIA systems with approved assistive technology (AT) software and hardware, as a Level 2 function of ICT Service Desk.
  • Working with end users to identify unmet needs, research new solutions and refine processes to enable greater accessibility of NDIA systems.
  • Providing active technical support with a range of Accessible Technology including, Microsoft Accessibility features, iOS Accessibility features and software such as JAWS and Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

Our ideal candidate will have an innovative mindset and a passion for developing needs-driven ICT-based solutions. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships. To be successful in this role you are a team player with knowledge and experience operating autonomously and collaborating confidently at all levels.

You will have the ability to mentor and coach and bring a continuous improvement mindset to support and build up the team’s capability.
