Your new role
The Senior Events and Engagement Officer, is a new role within the Strategic Engagement Branch at this agency. Your role will be responsible for the coordination, of the delivery of key strategic events across agency to help build and support its reputation.
You will be partnered with an EL1 and an APS5 to provide user-centred, best-practice strategic engagement across the agency. As the Senior Events and Engagement Officer you will provide events support to coordinate the agency's attendance and presence at a number of events. Your day-to-day responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:
- Use a project management approach to deliver Events and support high-quality internal and external relationship management, working with the Strategic Engagement Officer, Strategic Insights.
- Provide advice on best practice strategic event delivery to business areas in line with the User Engagement Strategy through the development of light-touch event frameworks for business areas to follow.
- Manage and track engagement and corporate outreach activities, including maintaining, coordinating and reporting on a calendar of upcoming activities and the strategic engagement program.
- Provide best-practice event support for priority Events and other key engagement activities.
- Support the development of content to reach relevant user groups, and the development of standard operating procedures and workflows to better deliver outcomes and improve existing processes and procedures for event capability.
As you will be engaging and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally, well-developed communication skills with the ability to foster professional relationships whilst building rapport and trust is a must.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in a similar role within the APS will put you in a good position for this position. Along with this experience, you will bring:
- Demonstrated skills and experience in events, including strategy development, execution and evaluation, coordination, working with communications teams to support the development of communications campaigns and designed materials for event promotion, user or audience research, and design thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to produce audience and channel appropriate content to a high standard (for example, for web, social media, event listings etc.)
- Experience managing and delivering in-person, virtual and hybrid format events.
- Demonstrated ability to take a user-centred approach to event design and a project management approach to event management and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to work in an agile and fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and prioritise effectively with excellent organisational abilities to deliver high-quality advice and outcomes.
