Job description

Think gyms are just for young people? Think again!
Here is your opportunity to lead the healthy ageing revolution on your doorstep in Melbourne.

As an emerging leader in the over 50s Health and Fitness industry in Australia, Avanti is a place where older adults and first-time gym goers can thrive in a safe, welcoming and fun environment. Avanti Health Centres are exclusive to over 50s with state-of-the-art equipment powered by advanced technology suitable for all fitness levels. With expert advice and supervision from experienced health professionals, supplemented by undergraduate students on practicum placements.

Working with Avanti, you will have an unprecedented, scalable opportunity to assist older Australians that help them be fit, functional and fearless in a way that suits their lifestyle and health status.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an energetic and inspiring Area Manager to oversee the operationalising and profitability of each new Avanti Health Centre facility within the Melbourne area as they open. As a qualified Exercise Professional, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful launch and ongoing performance of multiple over 50's gym locations. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the health and wellness of the Melbourne community. The role will involve a hands-on approach with some service delivery to model and build a welcoming, supportive and fun environment on which to build community.

What sort of qualities do I need to be successful in this role?

Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide staff across multiple locations, ensuring consistent standards and a positive working environment.

Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication to interact with employees, stakeholders, and clients. Clarity in communication ensures that everyone is on the same page.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, locations, and teams efficiently. This includes scheduling, resource allocation, and time management.

Problem-Solving: Capacity to identify issues quickly and develop practical solutions. This is crucial for maintaining smooth operations and addressing any challenges that arise.

Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changes in the market, client needs, and internal processes. Being able to pivot strategies as necessary is vital in a dynamic environment.

Customer Focus: Commitment to providing excellent service to gym members, understanding their needs, and ensuring their satisfaction. This is particularly important for the over 50s demographic, who may have specific requirements.

Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and cost management to ensure the gyms are profitable and sustainable.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build strong relationships with staff, members, and external partners. Empathy and understanding are key to managing a diverse team and client base.

Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail to ensure high standards of quality and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Passion for Fitness and Wellness: Genuine interest in promoting a healthy lifestyle and understanding the specific needs of the over 50s age group.

Resilience: Capacity to handle stress and bounce back from setbacks. The ability to maintain a positive outlook and persist through challenges is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of multiple gym locations, ensuring each facility runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Profitability: Drive the growth in membership sales and maximise member retention at each centre. Provide leadership in nurturing referral pathways to maximise non-membership revenue.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate staff to achieve performance goals and deliver exceptional customer service. Cultivate a high-performance culture, providing an environment that empowers a positive and energetic team.
  • Member Experience: Ensure a high standard of customer service and member satisfaction across all locations, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Marketing : Collaborate with the marketing department to execute local marketing initiatives, promotional events, and community outreach efforts.
  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with local communities, including health professionals and community organizations, to promote our services and attract new members.
  • Performance Reporting: Regularly report on key performance indicators, operational metrics, and financial results to senior management.
  • Liaison between corporate headquarters and individual gym locations, providing feedback, insights, and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in multi-site management within the fitness industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.

Desired

Benefits:
