Position Details:
An exciting opportunity exists for a proactive and well organised Art Technician to join the Primary Art department at John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS). This is a fixed term, 0.6 FTE, term time position for Semester 2, 2024. The successful candidate will be required to work three days per week, specifically Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Art Technician is responsible for assisting the Primary Art Specialist in the preparation and delivery of practical lessons in the Primary Art classes (PP-Year 6). This may include setting up equipment and materials prior to lessons, ensuring safety standards are met, providing support to students during practical sessions, maintaining equipment and helping with administrative tasks related to the Department such as helping with ordering and managing art supplies. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

The successful candidate must:

- Have a sound knowledge of art materials, supplies and tools, their storage and maintenance.
- Display a sound understanding of Work, Health and Safety requirements in relation to the use of art equipment and materials.
- Demonstrate an openness to understand and appreciate the PYP curriculum and philosophy.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with staff and students.
- Have the ability to problem solve and trouble shoot technical issues and adapt to changing circumstances in a classroom.
- Be well organised including the ability to order and manage supplies, equipment, resources, inventory management and maintain records efficiently.
- Be able to use basic computer applications and software for administrative tasks and record-keeping.
Essential Requirements:
- A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) dated within six months.
- Hold a current Working with Children Card.
