Artistic Coordinator - School of the Arts and Media (UNSW)

• Employment Type: Part Time, Fixed Term for 2 years (17.5-hour week)
• Remuneration Level 8 ($118,883 + $133,948 + 17% Superannuation Pro Rata.
• Location: Kensington, NSW

Why This Role Matters:

The Artistic Co-ordinator will play an important role in the School of the Arts and Media with a focus on the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab venue and be responsible for coordinating events and activities that enrich the School’s offerings and engage its diverse student, university and external audiences. The role will curate the Schools artistic and creative event offerings, across all disciplines in the School, to create a cohesive and engaging program of events and activities.

This position will collaborate with educators, undergraduate and postgraduate students, professional and technical staff, artists, Faculty stakeholders and sector partners to curate an enriching arts environment that foregrounds the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab as a leading venue in UNSW and Sydney’s cultural ecology.

Accountabilities:

• Coordinate Arts and Media projects that reflect the Lab’s commitment to innovation, experimentation, diversity, and artistic excellence. This includes liaising with academic staff and their teaching and research activities.
• In consultation with the Head of School and the School Manager, collaborate with technical and professional teams to ensure smooth event operations and successful project execution.
• Co-design and co-ordinate philanthropic-funded programs such as the Australian-Irish Cultural Program, among others while promoting key values of creativity, collaboration and inclusion.
• Work with the Division of Philanthropy to grow and diversify income for the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab and its creative programs through competitive research grants, partnerships, sponsorships and securing investment from philanthropic donations and thirdsector sources.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders, communities and audiences within UNSW and broader Arts and Media sectors.
• Contribute to the development and oversee an alumni residency program in collaboration with the School, Faculty and relevant Division to contribute to lifelong learning.

Skills and Experience:

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
• A track record in building effective collaborations, networks and partnerships to achieve creative objectives.
• Proven project management experience, with an understanding of project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
• Demonstrated experience working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
• Proven experience in entrepreneurially growing and diversifying income through grants, partnerships, sponsorships and securing investment from philanthropic sources.
• Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines using judgment and initiative.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
