Job description

  • Part Time, permanent role, 0.7 EFT (inc every 2nd Saturday) (based on 35 hours per week)
  • Exciting new role administering the annual arts grants program, delivery of artist development programs and public programming
  • This role will be based in Coburg and Brunswick with work from home opportunities
  • Salary: $81 – 92K + Super (pro rata)
  • Ability to transfer or take LSL (Long Service Leave) within Local Government

About the role

An exciting new role, the Arts Development Officer is responsible for the administration of the annual arts grants program and planning and delivery of the artist professional development and networking programs. It provides some customer service at the Counihan Gallery and is responsible for public programming related to the Counihan Gallery in Brunswick, public art program and other arts and culture programs when required.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an arts industry professional who is passionate about supporting diverse artistic practice, creating impactful arts programs and engaging with Merri-bek’s diverse arts sector and community. We are seeking someone who loves working with artists and has incredible administration and customer service skills. 

Skills and experience require to perform the role

  • Experience in the administration of grant programs.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the planning and delivery of artist professional development programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate diverse and innovative public programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and demonstrated experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in marketing and promotion in the arts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with some supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of Child safety and wellbeing requirements and how this applies for arts programs and the gallery environment.
