The Role
ASD is seeking highly motivated Systems Engineers from all backgrounds with experience in various forms of ICT Engineering to deliver systems that enable the conduct of intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations in support of the Australian Government and Australian Defence Force (ADF).
As an ASD6 Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for working across the Systems Engineering process from requirements to design to development to testing, delivery and sustainment. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams delivering systems using technologies from RF and wired communications to networking to computing and software systems. The systems will range from small scale, bespoke solutions to some of the largest scale, complex enterprise systems in Australia.

ASD6 Systems Engineer:
- Work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
- Lead a team, allocate work, resources and tasks, set work area priorities, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
- Perform critical and complex engineering activities and provide advice in the field of Systems Engineering under limited direction.
- Apply engineering knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties and consider these in planning, decision-making and priority setting.
- Assess technical and design packages including scoping, planning, reviewing, provide recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our Ideal candidate should possess one or more of the following traits and skills for a Senior Systems Engineer:
- Industry experience, formal training or a particular domain expertise
- The ability to design, build and administer systems according to the high standard expected throughout ASD and in accordance to industry protocols
- The ability to tailor your communication style to effectively engage various audiences
- The ability to be work flexibly and both independently and within the team.
- Have the capacity and discipline to build and manage systems in accordance with our high standards.
- Have some experience in producing formal Systems Engineering documentation.
