About the Team
ASD is entering an exciting phase of growth, innovation and transformation. Our agency has committed to delivering REDSPICE, which is the most significant single investment in the Australian Signals Directorate’s 75 years.

People & Skills Division provides crucial programs to raise, train and sustain ASD’s people. We lead a complex and diverse portfolio of work programs, with staff from broad-ranging specialisations and disciplines located around the country. We are recruiting for several EL2 Directors within Organisational Development Branch, and Skills & Training Branch.

A key focus of these two Branches under the REDSPICE Program is to ensure the right opportunities at the right time are available for ASD’s people to improve their skills, knowledge and workplace experience now and into the future. ASD is committed to supporting the career growth and professional development of both new and existing employees. These two Branches lead a range of functions including new starter induction, development of entry level candidates, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and outreach to support workforce growth in the sector.

About the Role
These roles will be part of teams that will: 
 

  • Deliver new capability under the REDSPICE Program
  • Deliver ASD's major capability programs; and
  • Enhance and modernise existing capabilities

Director roles are available across a range of functions in Organisational Development Branch and Skills & Training Branch.

ASD are looking for leaders with demonstrated experience shaping and delivering strategic outcomes, and who thrive in a varied, fast-paced environment where they are empowered to deliver continuous improvement. Our Directors will have strong stakeholder engagement experience, using highly developed communication skills to build internal and external strategic relationships.

Applications are encouraged from experienced and high potential individuals with knowledge and relatable skills. Specific areas of focus include Entry Level Programs, Induction and Orientation, Learning & Development, and Skills Assessments.

The key duties of the position include:

Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience to:
 

  • Lead the development and implementation of human resources strategies and plans to deliver outcomes aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Provide expert and timely strategic advice and recommendations across the Agency including the Executive to influence agency decisions, aims and initiatives.
  • Provide strategic leadership to guide and mentor a multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed team to achieve high quality outcomes and continuous workplace improvement.
  • Provide strategic direction to the section, including the development of business plans, strategies, budgets and priorities and monitor workflow performance.
  • Have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and have demonstrated experience implementing strategic HR initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to proactively build and sustain positive working relationships with team members, senior leadership and stakeholders within a strong client focused environment.
  • Our successful candidates will be motivated leaders who are accountable, outcomes driven and future focused. They will model behaviours which are inclusive, collaborative and encourage curiosity and innovation.

Eligibility

Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with ASD, applicants must be an Australian citizen. 
 
Health Assessment - The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the Agency’s preferred medical provider. 

Organisational Suitability Assessment – To be eligible for employment within ASD, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (see Organisational Assessment section).

Security Clearance - The preferred applicant will be required to successfully undergo the security clearance vetting process at a specified clearance level. The preferred applicant MUST be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. 

It is a condition of employment that applicants are willing and able to obtain and maintain the requisite security clearance for the duration of their employment with ASD.

Notes

Desirable Qualifications, Experience or Training
Tertiary qualifications, industry certification or equivalent experience in learning and development, human resources or disciplines related to these roles.
