About the Role:
We are seeking talented Resource Designers to contribute to our vision of world-leading public education through strategic design services. As a Resource Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating curriculum content and materials that align with our department's style, goals, and objectives. Your expertise in graphic design, illustration, or animation will be highly regarded and instrumental in delivering high-quality resources that support our educational mission.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide high-level design services to the Curriculum and Learning division while adhering to the department's style, brand, goals, and objectives, significantly influencing the quality and effectiveness of educational materials.
- Offer expert design advice to stakeholders within the Curriculum and Learning division, including executives, program leaders, curriculum managers, and curriculum writers, ensuring adherence to best practices and guidelines for visual communication.
- Supporting project delivery through design research, including examining and reflecting on appropriate imagery, analysing risks of various design elements and understanding sensitivities, while ensuring the effective visual delivery of key messages.
- Demonstrate robust knowledge and understanding of accessibility requirements and copyright obligations and source attribution compliance, providing authoritative guidance and ensuring adherence to relevant policies.
- Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to actively support departmental and divisional objectives, negotiating on matters of significance within the department and with other bodies or agencies.
- Collaborate with publishing team members, leadership, and other divisional members to drive continuous improvement in educational materials, considering practical application and enhancing user experience in classrooms.
Qualifications:
Essential: A relevant qualification in graphic design, multimedia or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Desirable: Illustration, animation, videography, photography.
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
ASO5 $84,522 - $94,003 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
