About the Role:

Are you passionate about creating inclusive and culturally responsive educational environments for Aboriginal children and young people? We're seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Engagement Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing Aboriginal Pathways programs and initiatives.

As the Aboriginal Engagement Officer, you'll be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and evaluating projects that enhance cultural responsiveness and student engagement within Aboriginal Pathways programs. From providing leadership and mentorship to building effective relationships with stakeholders, your contributions will be instrumental in shaping the educational experiences of Aboriginal children and young people.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and implement project management functions to support the cultural responsiveness of Aboriginal Pathways programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the needs of Aboriginal students.
  • Provide Aboriginal leadership and mentorship for students enrolled in SAASTA Academy programs, including Elite Academies and the Workabout Centre program.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote Aboriginal Pathways programs within educational institutions and communities.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that support the cultural identity of students, facilitating stakeholder engagement and awareness-raising strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and collaborative curriculum focusing on education, sport, culture, employment, and healthy living outcomes.
  • Foster effective work practices within Aboriginal Pathways, collaborating with team members to achieve program objectives.
  • Deliver consultancy services, support, and training to staff engaged in Aboriginal Pathways programs to enhance cultural competence and awareness.
  • Review and analyse program operations to maximize opportunities for Aboriginal perspectives and student engagement, offering recommendations for continuous improvement.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential extensive knowledge, connectivity and experience working with Aboriginal communities and networks across South Australia and broadly.
  • Desirable an appropriate qualification in community services, education support or business administration.

Special Conditions:

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:

ASO6: $97,022 - $102,626 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
