  • $84,689.37 to $99,074.43 per annum plus superannuation
  • Permanent full-time - 35 hours per week plus fortnightly RDO
  • Potential to work from home two days per week

About the role

We are seeking a suitability qualified and enthusiastic Assessment Officer to join the Development Assessment department. 

Working as part of a dynamic team of fellow Assessment Officers, Senior Assessment Officers and Team Leaders, you will be responsible for assessing applications under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, as well as contributing to policy development, providing advice to customers and staff, and reporting to Council.

You will ensure that development occurs in a way that is consistent with the objectives of the Woollahra Management Plan, state and regional planning instruments and Council’s planning instruments, codes and policies.

In this role, you will gain valuable experience and develop your skills by dealing with a wide range of developments, from commercial to residential, harbour foreshore to heritage conservation, all within a fun and supportive environment. You will work alongside a diverse team that are passionate about the work they do but also love to have a good time while doing it! 

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated professional to work within the Development Assessment team. You will have completed a relevant qualification, demonstrate knowledge across a range of planning and development related issues and most importantly, you will be attentive and have a proven record of providing excellent customer service.

Essential Criteria 

To be successful in thie role you will need the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or significant prior experience as an Assessment Officer
  • Relevant practical experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated competence of processing of development applications within local government; or equivalent
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills and commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Computer literacy
  • Current C Class driver’s licence
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Council’s corporate values
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity and Work Health & Safety principles
