The Role
As the Assistant Accountant you will be working with the Company Accountant and sharing the responsibilities for the day-to-day finance and accounting needs of the business such as:
- Managing the day-to-day finance and accounting activities of the organisation, including bank reconciliations
- Managing the accounts’ payable function including the processing of invoices and payment of grants
- Managing the accounts receivable function, including the allocation of payments, credit control of overdue payments and reconciliation of payment
- Processing payroll, other related payroll tasks and relevant HR administrative tasks
- Reconciliation and reporting on inventory, monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
- Ensuring accounting standards and policies are adhered to
- Preparing the monthly accounts and supporting the Directors in preparation of Board and Management reports
- Financial analysis and reporting as required by the business
- Supporting the reconciliation, preparation, and lodgement of monthly or quarterly business activity statements (BAS)
Skills & Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in an accounting function in a similar sized business
- 1+ years' experience in group accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
- Expert knowledge of XERO and other relevant software such as Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- A can-do attitude
