We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team.
Job Description:
As Assistant Accountant for Unique Retailing, you would have a passion for fashion and a strong background in finance to support our growing business. In this position, you will provide support to the Finance Manager in the completion of month end accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and other ad hoc responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in various accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company.
Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Payable:
Process and verify invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
Prepare and execute payments to vendors within established timelines.
Address inquiries from vendors regarding payment status and resolve discrepancies.
2. Accounts Receivable:
Generate and send customer invoices, tracking payments and ensuring timely collections.
Reconcile DJ receipts and post journals weekly.
3. General Ledger Entries:
Record and reconcile financial transactions in the general ledger.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date sub-ledgers for various accounts.
4. Bank Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements weekly and petty cash monthly.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank records and internal financial records.
Ensure accurate recording of cash transactions and maintain proper documentation.
5. Month-End and Year-End Closing:
Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Prepare adjusting journal entries and accruals as needed, mainly intercompany and undepostied fund journal entries.
Collaborate with the team to ensure a smooth and accurate closing process.
6. Vendor Communication:
Communicate effectively with vendors regarding invoice submissions, payment inquiries, and dispute resolution.
Build and maintain positive relationships with key vendors.
7. Budgeting and Forecasting Support:
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Provide financial data and analysis to support the budgeting process.
8. Ad-Hoc:
Prepare ad-hoc reports timely and accurately.
Other ad-hoc tasks required by Company Accountant.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., AP21,Procube,TRS).
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy is crucial.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
AP21 experience
Experience in the retail or fashion industry.
Knowledge of inventory accounting.
CPA or pursuing CPA certification.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
