Purpose of the Role
The Assistant Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team to ensure the smooth operation of financial activities within Zembl. This role demands a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining dependable financial controls, managing payments, and delivering valuable reporting insights.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Individual with direct experience and high interest in the areas of responsibility.
- Part-qualified (CPA/CA or similar) or expecting to commence studying shortly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to add valuable insight from data.
- Willingness to adapt, pivot, and grow to meet the needs of a dynamic and evolving business.
- High-quality written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within finance and cross-functionally.
- Organised and able to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and experience of working with accounting software (NetSuite preferred).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily operations of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reports, payments, and the raising of invoices and credit notes, with proactive debt management.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of AR accounts, investigating and resolving issues with our partners.
- Reconcile and process company corporate credit card transactions.
- Oversee the calculation of sales agent commission payments and payroll processes (with third-party support).
- Complete GST/BAS returns and payments and handle FBT reporting and payments.
- Update cashflow models for corporate payment-related actuals and projected flows, covering payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
- Support robust General Ledger bookkeeping.
- Post month-end close-related GL journals with supporting workpapers.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the completion of operational performance reporting.
- Provide insight into the company’s performance by producing reports on sales and additional ad hoc reporting as required.
- Assist with performance reporting and budget/forecasting processes.
