About the RoleThe Assistant Accountant works as part of a small finance team, and is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Chief Finance Officer. This includes providing a broad range of high-level and complex financial management, reporting and planning responsibilities.
The Assistant Accountant liaises closely with Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and other Senior Managers and staff, to provide quality financial data, information and analytics that support decision making.
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate transactional records of bookkeeping, systems, and filing across the following:
- Managing & supporting Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Bank Reconciliations and other Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Preparation and processing of month-end reporting including processing of accruals, prepayments and other month end journals
- Assisting with the preparation of budgeting and forecasting reports
- Other ad hoc accounting duties to support the broader team
- Minimum 2 – 3 years accounting experience
- Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
- Working knowledge of GST and FBT legislation
- Ability to work within strict deadlines and reporting timetables
- Prioritisation and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to show initiative and be a self-starter
- Intermediate computer software skills, including Excel (vlook ups and pivot tables), and a working knowledge of MYOB Advanced (preferred)
- Business Degree, with a major in Finance or Accounting
- Studying toward CPA / CA (preferred)
