To support our growth and development within Australia, a positon has become available for an Assistant Accountant.
Reporting to the Financial Controller in Melbourne, the position is based at our head office in Hallam. Key responsibilities include:
- Management of the financial and accounting function and assets.
- Statutory company compliance and reporting.
- IT support, integrity and company system competency.
- Contribute to forward strategic planning and ongoing analytical support.
- Ensure processes, procedures and systems are continuously improved
This position will ideally suit a person who is efficient and organised, able to work well autonomously whilst leveraging a larger team, and be able to demonstrate the following:
- Preparation of monthly financial reports (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash flow, Inventory).
- Manage the general ledger including banking and inter-company reconciliation on a monthly basis
- Prepare annual company operating budget in liaison with senior management.
- Complete annual audited financial statements and group reporting package.
- Prepare, review and lodge statutory returns, including GST, FBT and Company Tax Return.
- Maintain and update fixed asset register.
- Manage company foreign exchange exposure.
- Supervise and manage the accounts payable and receivable function.
- Training and mentoring of colleagues as required
The ideal candidate will possess the following key knowledge, skills and experience.
- Professional accounting qualification with sound commercial experience. CA or CPA an advantage.
- Interpersonal skills with an ability to build empathy and rapport with people at all levels.
- Self-reliant, motivated and with purposeful enthusiasm to succeed.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of managing business model sustainability.
- Understanding of the concept of creating customer value.
- Sound written and communication skills.
- Very strong analytically and numerically.
- Results and outcome focused.
- Foreign currency exchange and hedge contracts.
- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in ERP whole of business platforms – knowledge in JD Edwards, Crystal, Attaché, SAP an advantage.
- Familiar with International and US GAAP.
- Hold and maintain a current driver’s licence
