About the role:
You will be an invaluable support to the Financial Accounting team and be responsible for key day-to-day activities, including managing all bank accounts, reconciliations, prepayments, and some accruals. This position will work closely with the broader finance department and you will gain experience across the diversity of Anglicare's operations and utilise several systems while doing so.
The ideal candidate will have shown to be an ambitious self-starter, who is wanting to learn and grow and try new things. You will be encouraged to develop your technical and interpersonal skills and will be constantly challenged.
This position will be a full time, maximum term, 3-month position with a possibility to progress to a permanent role.
Key responsibilities (not limited to):
- Manage financial information systems such as ExpenseMe, Capital Guardians, and Finance General Enquiry System
- Maintain process documentation in all areas of responsibility
- Processing of monthly journals to ensure month end close responsibilities are completed in timely and accurate manner
- Timely completion of monthly reconciliations to ensure timely clearance of reconciling items
- Completion and timely distribution of weekly and monthly reporting requirements
- Ongoing review of processes and controls - maintain best practice through continuous improvement
- Support the finance team with ad hoc tasks and month end processing as required
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications in Accounting or Business Administration
- Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role
- Strong experience with accounting software and MS Excel
- Professional written and oral communications skills
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector (advantageous)
