Position Description
- The local Finance team is responsible for the financial, regulatory, tax and management reporting for our Australian entities. This role will support the financial controller in all aspects for the local business, and includes working closely with HK regional finance team and ad-hoc projects.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRA's)
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, assisting with:
- Month end closing activities and tasks - general journal entries, bank reconciliation, GL account reconciliation
- Month end reconciliations (balance sheet and bank), external financial audit
- Regulatory Reporting -daily and monthly regulatory capital
- Management Reporting - daily commission reporting
- Treasury function - bank reconciliation, fund transfer between accounts
- Tax reporting - Corporate Tax, BAS and FBT
- Preparation of Quarterly Surveys
- Perform month end variance analysis
- Process invoices, staff claims and reimbursements
- Assist FC on audits request, annual financial statements and income tax returns
Requirements
To be effective and successful in this position, the Assistant Accountant should have the following:
- Hold a bachelor's degree majoring in accounting
- At least 2 years' experience in an Accounting role
- Studying toward Chartered Accountant or a CPA preferred
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail, strong analytical and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Prior SAP experience is preferred
- Self-starter attitude with high level of enthusiasm for the financial services sector
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Perform month end variance analysis to ensure completeness of accrual and accuracy. Investigate reasons for the variances and document the comment (10%)
- Monthly reconciliation for key balance sheet accounts and document the reconciliation file (15%)
- Assist to provide information on audit and regulatory requests on a timely manner (15%)
- Process invoices, ensure all staff claims and reimbursements are within policies (20%)
- Complete all month-end and regulatory reporting tasks within the schedule time (40%)
