What The Role Is All About
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the Accountants in preparation of management accounts for the properties under UniLodge & Essence Communities management.
In a rapidly growing business, this role requires the successful candidate to deliver a consistent, accurate and high quality service. You will receive growth and development in Accounting and professional skills, whilst gaining a
thorough understanding of how a thriving Finance Department works.
The Assistant Accountant will receive hands on training and development across the UniLodge/Essence Finance team.
Your responsibilities as an Assistant Accountant include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation of month end procedures - bank reconciliations, income journals, prepayment & accrual journals
- Preparation of Profit & Loss Statements, variance commentary, Balance Sheet reconciliations & GST reconciliations
- Process corporate and residential life credit card claims for both Australia and New Zealand
- Process corporate bank reconciliations for operational accounts
- Complete accounts receivable invoicing in line with contractual requirements
- Debtor management
- Assistance in preparation of budgets & annual audit process for both UniLodge/Essence and its clients
- Check accuracy of online payments for both creditor and trust payments
- Ad-hoc reporting and administrative duties associated with the accounting role
To succeed in this role, you will ideally demonstrate:
- Experience in a corporate office environment (e.g. Junior/Graduate accounting role)
- Evidence of recently completed studies in a Business (Accounting) Degree with a GPA 5+ or in the last year of studies
- Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas (pivot tables, vlookups, index/match, sumifs)
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Customer focused and able to effectively communicate with our customers to resolve issues
- Self-motivated, with a positive mindset, who listens and works well within a team environment
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks, ensuring both team and personal deadlines
- National Police Check (completed within last 3 months), at your own cost
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia and New Zealand
