- Location: Parramatta (flexible working arrangements available)
- $93,925 to $102,941 plus super and annual leave loading

The Assistant Assessment Officer roles enables timely assessments, advice and referrals concerning contacts made to the Child Wellbeing Unit by NSW Department of Education (DOE). The role acts as an information point for mandatory reports regarding child protection concerns for students.
Shift start times are flexible between the working hours of 7:30 am to 6pm. Rostered hours are set per school term.
The day-to-day activities includes however not limited to:
- Provide accurate and efficient advice
- Respond to client queries via the call queue
- Send referrals, templates and other information to clients
- Data entry and summarise notes in Childstory and other internal systems such as MS Office
- Other customer service and administrative tasks
- Escalate high risk cases to the Assessment Officer and / or Lead

About you
- Be a self-starter and maintain confidentiality
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Be organised and have good attention to detail that includes consistent record keeping
- Knowledge of New South Wales child protection legislation desirable however not essential
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children's check).
- Ability to touch type and record information accurately in a timely manner.
- Willingness to engage in learning and professional development opportunities.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of public education.
