Assistant Category Manager

Viva Energy Retail is a mobility and convenience division of Viva Energy Australia with a high-quality national network of fuel and convenience stores located in metro, regional and on main transport routes, and provides an advantaged position to serve the on-road and local suburban convenience markets.

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Category Manager to join the Viva Energy Retail Merchandise team. You will be working across the Food to Go category, whilst also managing a variety of Projects, supporting the category.

You will support the Business Category Manager and will be accountable for assisting them in growing profitable category sales, maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting the customer-centric category strategy.

You'll also:

• have end to end accountability, managing forecasting and range reviews.
• manage the collection, input and maintenance of all category data, including promotional systems, data systems and new lines.
• deliver against the overall category strategy.
• execute the category's pricing, promotion, range selection and layout development.
• develop strong supplier relationships to effectively partner and execute goals.
  

We are looking for candidates with experience working within an FMCG and/or retail environment and strong knowledge of the merchandising function and processes.

You'll also need:

• strong organisational skills and ability to plan ahead to support the category's unique needs
• prior experience with promotional and trade planning
• exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to work closely and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives
• strong commercial acumen with experience applying this to interpret industry dynamics and competitive retail landscape
• strong analytical skills demonstrated through proactively sourcing customer insights and data to formulate category recommendations
• experience working within cross functional teams to manage and execute projects
