YOUR DREAM OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity exists for a current Senior Design Assistant looking to take their next career step within a Global Womenswear Apparel & Accessories brand. 

You will partner with and be mentored by the Senior Designer to research current trends and market demands, providing your support throughout the development cycle through to bulk production.  

Additionally, you will support in the preparation of design packs and mood boards, research sourcing fabrics and trims, research trends and assist in broader ad-hoc administrative tasks within the design team.

Get excited to: 

• Trend knowledge and interpretation aligned with the essence of the brands handwriting 
• Assisting in illustrating designs, creating and updating CADS /tech packs/ design records.
• Preparing design packs for in house pattern room and overseas manufactures with the guidance of senior designer
• Sourcing and developing new trims and fabrications
• Garment knowledge and technical construction
• Ensure comprehensive knowledge of local and overseas market trends
• Analyse relevance of trends for brand and develop accordingly in collaboration with the designer
• Ensure ‘finger on pulse’ of emerging trends to ensure Forever New is first to market with new trends
• Demonstrate broad awareness of competitors and external trends
• Follow the critical path, adhering to key deadlines and check points on the timeline.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU OFFER US

You are a driven individual with a passionate for all things fashion! Having basic technical design knowledge and garment construction skills, you approach all tasks with a "can do" attitude. You thrive in working to tight deadlines, having previous experience in a similar Fashion role. In addition to your approachable and professional persona, you pride yourself on your planning and organizational skills. 

• 2 years working for a women's apparel brand, at Design Assistant or Assistant Designer level (or combined).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field
• Skilled in visualizing design concepts (PC/MAC)
• Ability to translate fashion trends into commercial design concepts
• Fabric and raw material knowledge  
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of all critical path elements and their impact on sales
• Knowledge of local and overseas fashion retail markets
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
• ‘Big picture’ thinking; contribute to team and business objectives
• Use personal initiative and be creative to grow the business
