Love to Dream is looking for a passionate, hands on, detail orientated Assistant Designer to join our growing, dynamic business. This full-time position sits within our Design team, where you will be become an integral part of the team and play a key role in supporting the design and development of our baby product line whilst making a meaningful impact on the lives of families around the world.
Role overview:
Working closely with the Head of Innovation & Sustainability and the Design Manager, you will contribute to all stages of the design process, from concept development to final product creation.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
1. Concept Development:
- Collaborate with the design team to brainstorm and develop creative concepts for new baby sleep related products.
- Research current trends, market demands, and competitor offerings to inform design decisions.
2. Sketching and Rendering:
- Assist in translating conceptual ideas into detailed sketches in Adobe Illustrator
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from the senior design team, incorporating changes and refinements as needed.
3. Material and Trim Selection:
· Work closely with the Design Manager to source materials and trims that meet design specifications and quality standards.
4. Technical Drawing and Specification:
· Prepare detailed tech packs to communicate design requirements to manufacturers and production teams.
5. Sample Review and Approval:
- Assist in reviewing and evaluating sample prototypes and pre-production samples, providing feedback on design, fit, and functionality.
- Organise sample fittings and provide detailed notes and photographs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address any issues or concerns and ensure that final products meet design expectations.
6. Documentation and Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of design files, sample approvals, and production documentation.
- Maintains the development tracker.
- Maintain development, sales, and bulk sample libraries.
- Assist in organising and updating design libraries, mood boards, and trend research materials.
- Assist with the organisation and project management of the seasonal lifestyle and flat lay photoshoots, including sourcing talent, paperwork, and sample management.
- Assist with the creation of design collateral for Sales & Marketing teams including range plans, swatch books, mini catalogues, design presentations.
- Assist with the creation of Features and Benefits documents.
- Assist with the creation of photo retouching briefs and uploading of imagery to the DAM.
About you - Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field.
- Previous experience or internship in apparel or product design, preferably with a focus on children's wear or baby products.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or CAD.
- Strong sketching and rendering skills, with the ability to communicate ideas visually.
- Knowledge of textiles, garment construction techniques, and manufacturing processes.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Passion for children's fashion and a keen interest in trends, colours, and styles.
