The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) is responsible for supporting a strong credit system for Australia by managing the application of bankruptcy, criminal asset management and personal property securities laws through the delivery of high-quality education, compliance and enforcement services.
The Corporate Services Division (CSD) partners with business divisions to provide contemporary corporate services to ensure sustainable allocation and management of resources. This includes Strategic Finance, Human Resource Management, Procurement, Property and Security.
Purpose of the position
As the Assistant Director Business Engagement, you will be responsible for managing the timely delivery of AFSA's internal & external budgets and business partnering for Divisions & Projects requirements in line with required legislative and policy frameworks to support the achievement of AFSA's strategic vision and objectives.
Accountabilities
- Manage and oversee a finance team to ensure effective performance/service delivery of financial functions in accordance with established policies and procedures, focussed on:
o Business Partnering with the Divisions
o Internal & External Budgets
o Project Budgets & financial requirements
o Capital Management Plan & Financial Sustainability Plan
- Lead and build a team by:
o Establishing clear work expectations, systems and processes
o Encouraging and supporting ongoing learning and development opportunities
o Providing regular feedback
- Identifying opportunities to enhance team performance in an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and change
- Provide technical expertise to the team and ensure accurate interpretation and application of legislation in an operational context
- Lead the continuous improvement of finance policies, processes and practices to ensure efficient and effective team outcomes.
- Develop and promote the adoption of nationally consistent finance policies and procedures.
- Engage with, manage and provide high quality service and support to internal and external clients/stakeholders.

Qualifications, accreditations and experience
- Tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent experience in accounting or finance.
- Membership of CPA, CA or other professional accounting body is highly desirable, but not required.
