About the Position
The Assistant Director, Education and Advice leads the Education and Advice team in the Registered Organisations Services Branch (the Branch). The Branch is an agile, proactive and best practice regulator within the Fair Work Commission (the Commission). The Education and Advice team is a high performing, multi-disciplinary team and team members support one another in their various areas of expertise. The team is responsible for the monitoring of the Branch’s key performance indicators, data analysis, governance, change management, stakeholder engagement, strategic reporting and delivery of Education and Advice activities.
The Assistant Director, Education and Advice works under the supervision and direction of the Director, Financial Analysis, Education and Advice and manages the reporting, Education and governance functions of the Branch. This role engages with registered organisations and their peak bodies, including for the purpose of identifying education priorities and methods. This also includes providing advice and supporting materials in relation to external communications requests.
Duties
As a valued member of the Education and Advice team, the duties of the Assistant Director, Education and Advice role include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage the Branch’s Education and Advice team, including managing workloads of team members, addressing their learning and development needs, and monitoring the team plans and individual team members’ performance.
- Contribute to the efficient management of the Branch through regular communication with its leadership team, supervisors and other staff by making evidence-based recommendations.
- Support the Branch to engage effectively and develop productive working relationships with key stakeholders such as registered organisations and their peak bodies, and the Registered Organisations Advisory Committee and the Compliance Practitioners Reference Group.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Branch’s Education and Engagement Strategy. This includes ensuring all education materials, which encompasses the Branch’s website content, are accurate, accessible, and regularly reviewed.
- Capture and analyse data to understand compliance and performance trends and develop appropriate responses; work with the appropriate teams within the Commission to ensure the Branch’s key performance indicators are fit for purpose.
- Oversee compliance with internal and external requirements, including ensuring that appropriate data management structures are in place and staff have the appropriate tools, to assess documents lodged by registered organisations.
- Ensure the Branch is appropriately represented in discussions about any changes to the Commission’s case management system so that the unique regulatory requirements of the Branch are captured and delivered.
- Build the internal culture of the Branch through overseeing innovation strategies that drive effective internal communication and cohesion.
- Oversee the timely provision of regular reports for senior leadership, the Australian public, and Senate Estimates, as well as responses to parliamentary questions on notice and ad hoc briefs, as identified, to the General Manager.
