We are looking for an Assistant Director- Governance and Policy to assist in the day-to-day governance for a large Government dept.
- Contract role till the end of August 2024 with possible extension.

You will be responsible for managing the Agency’s internal audit function, providing sound governance, risk management, insurance, compliance, and quality assurance advice across areas with a strong focus on the policy framework.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist the Senior Director, Governance and the Governance team in day-to-day governance operations, general administration, and staff management.
- Coordinate with the internal audit function including to monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and implement audit recommendations relating to Governance and Policy matters.
- Frequently draft briefs to the Executives, Agency Board and Board Committees.
- Build strong effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Manages whole-of-Agency policies and the Agency Policy Register.
- Manages the Conflict-of-Interest Framework and support the Senior Director, Governance with other integrity matters.
- Other Governance and risk management tasks as required.
- Professional and technical skills and knowledge in Accounting / Finance / Governance, and their application to the relevant Auditing Standards.
- Significant governance knowledge and/or internal audit management experience.
- Completion or substantial progression towards full membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
- Proven people management and leadership skills that support positive engagement and building individual capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience of contemporary business practices, and their application in the workplace including proven ability to draw on experience to provide sound advice to support the Agency in Governance matters.
- High level oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, apply, document, and educate others on new or amended legislation, regulation, and Policy.
