The Indigo Delivery Branch (IDB) is part of the CIOD and is responsible for:
Tranche 1 Agile Delivery Teams (ADTs) - multidisciplinary teams building and implementing foundational technology, stabilising the ICT operating environment, and mitigating the risks of aging systems;
Tranche 2 ADTs - multidisciplinary teams building and implementing solutions to re-engineer business processes and replace aging electoral systems with modern, secure, and agile technologies.
Systems Teams - multidisciplinary teams building the Agile development environment for the Program, including developing and maintaining the continuous delivery pipeline, and facilitating releases.

The key duties of the position include
The Assistant Director will work closely with the Delivery Director and Program Manager of the Systems Team to lead and manage the successful execution of Tranche 2 of the Program, including the agile delivery of projects to time, cost, quality, and scope. You will play an active role in building and supporting the Agile development environment, including developing and maintaining the continuous delivery pipeline, release strategy and management, governance, reporting, contract management and stakeholder management.
This role will make important contributions to the strategy, planning and oversight of the Systems Teams including supporting the team to achieve iteration goals, facilitating team events, coordinating and synchronising team efforts, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet agreed cadences.
To excel you'll have:
- Demonstrated experience managing and/or delivering large-scale ICT transformation projects and working as part of a technical Systems/Platform Team or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a small team, including providing clear direction, effectively delegating tasks, supporting individual development opportunities, and coaching to build high performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with influence, effectively synthesise information, and interact with people with diverse backgrounds and levels of seniority.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strategic relationships and manage expectations across varied stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct critical analysis and use available information and professional judgement to solve complex problems and implement pragmatic solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively managing high volumes of work and competing priorities, including the ability to adapt and respond to change and manage changing team and stakeholder needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC's strategic direction.
Desirable
- Experience delivering and/or managing IT transformation projects/programs in an Australian Government setting.
- Experience in using a range of commercial off the shelf and bespoke ICT systems and tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite, ServiceNow, DevOps and Objective.
- Experience in delivering and/or managing projects/programs using Agile ways of working, such as SCRUM and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
