The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill the role of Assistant Director, IT Workforce Planning to work in our Technology and Security Division (TSD).About the business areaThe position of Assistant Director, IT Workforce Planning is part of the IT Work Program Management Section.The IT Work Program Management Section supports the ABS TSD to deliver ABS business objectives effectively and efficiently through proactive management of TSD costs, capability and capacity. The team works collaboratively across the division to develop and implement workforce strategies, build professional ICT capabilities and source ICT skills from the market that are required to deliver work programs.About the roleThis role coordinates workforce requirements through managing supply and demand of ICT capability requirements for the TSD.The successful candidate will: conduct analysis of TSD workforce data to identify current/emerging workforce issues and trends to inform strategy and solutions for the divisionlead flexible teams and/or projects to deliver agreed business improvements and initiatives to achieve TSD objectivesdrive operational efficiency into processes to create capacity and remove manual activities and reduce key person riskdesign creative learning solutions (initiatives, programs and pathways) driven by business need which enhance the capability of the TSD workforce and drive clear learning and career pathwaysdevelop and implement communication and change plans to ensure effective communication with stakeholders across all stages of business engagementlead, manage, monitor and review team priorities, evaluating team and individual performance, providing regular constructive feedback, training and guidance, and mentoring team members to achieve their full potential.What we are looking for (selection criteria)To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience: experience in managing a small team and working collaboratively with business decision makersstrong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on engagement with internal clients, executives and external suppliersexperience working in a workforce management and/or recruitment area, or the ability to apply previous similar experience to this roleability to shape and drive strategy; be curious, collaborative and solutions focused to deliver quality outcomes in a dynamic environment with competing prioritiesstrong leadership, project and stakeholder management, facilitation, engagement and coaching skills and a collaborative approach when working with othersgood judgement in problem solving, decision making and risk and issues managementexcellent research and conceptual and analytical thinking skills to inform timely, evidence-based decision making aligned to strategic direction.You may also have experience in one or more of the following:instructional design and/or adult learningorganisational change and/or cultural transformationorganisational Workforce Planning and metricsjob design.How to applyTo apply, you will need to upload your current resume, provide referee details and respond to the following: Describe a recent project or program of work where you led or were part of a team which influenced the strategic direction of your organisation’s management of its workforce.
