Surrounded by good, honest, and capable professionals who take pride in their work for the benefit of their growers, customers and communities, our client is now on the lookout for an Assistant Farm Manager / 2IC to play a key role in their farming operation located near Moree, NSW. Note that our client also has a similar opportunity on one of their properties at Bourke, NSW.
Your Role
As the Assistant Farm Manager, you will work closely with the Farm Manager to oversee the established irrigation team and play a significant leadership role on the farm. Reporting directly to the Farm Manager, you will be responsible for operational activities and delivering the necessary performance outcomes for the property.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Support on-farm safety and ensure the team embraces safety
Maximise profitability by optimizing operational delivery and input controls
Supervise and operate irrigation and stormwater infrastructure and pump equipment
Coordinate with agronomists and external consultants to maintain and improve irrigation practices
Oversee and support irrigation staff and contractors
Ensure strict compliance with water license approvals and conditions
Work with the Farm Manager to monitor risk control measures, report results, identify inadequacies, and remedy damage to irrigation infrastructure
About You
You are collaborative and self-aware, with experience in overseeing a team on either an irrigated cotton or broadacre property. To be successful in this role, it is essential to have:
2+ years' experience in broadacre cropping or irrigated cotton
Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and mentor a team
Good computer literacy
Understanding of WHS policies and procedures
